Getting to the Miami Grand Prix Without a CarAnd why you probably shouldn't drive.

Driving to the Miami Grand Prix is optional, and for most people, it's the wrong choice. The roads around Hard Rock Stadium during race weekend are a mess. Post-race is worse. And if you're relying on a rideshare, your app is going to show you a price that makes you briefly consider walking back to your hotel.

1

Brightline to AventuraBest option

If you're staying in downtown Miami, South Beach, Fort Lauderdale, or anywhere Brightline reaches — this is your move.

Brightline runs special Hard Rock Connect services directly timed to the Grand Prix schedule. Board at your nearest Brightline station, get off at Aventura Station. A free shuttle runs you directly to the circuit, dropping off at Lot 16 near Gate 3.

Shuttle from Aventura: leaves ~10 minutes after each train arrives

Return shuttles: start ~1 hour before scheduled train departure — leave before the race ends or you're waiting

Book at: brightline.com — look for Hard Rock Connect labelled departures specifically

You skip all road traffic entirely. The train doesn't care about race weekend congestion. This is the option that people who've done Miami GP multiple times tend to land on.

2

Metrobus + MetrorailBudget option

The least talked-about option and honestly underrated for people staying in or near downtown Miami.

The route:

  1. 1.Take Metrorail to Earlington Heights, Brownsville, or Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Station
  2. 2.Catch Metrobus route 297, which runs directly past Hard Rock Stadium
  3. 3.Journey time: ~20 min from Earlington Heights, ~25 min from the other two

Metrorail runs 5am – midnight, seven days a week.

Metrobus timings during race weekend can be unpredictable, and it won't be as smooth as Brightline. But if you're watching your budget and already know Miami's transit system, this is a completely viable option.

3

Rideshare (Uber / Lyft)

You can use Uber or Lyft — but there are two things that will catch you out if you don't know them in advance.

Drop-off lots

Rideshares cannot drop you at the circuit gates. They drop at designated lots:

East Lot (Lot 21)

695 NW 199 StWalk 1.4 miles to Gate 14B, or take a shuttle

North Lot (Lot 35)

21001 NW 27th AveShort walk to Gate 8

South Lot (Lot 43)

2775 NW 183rd StWalk 1.3 miles to Gate 5 or Gate 3, or take a shuttle

Shuttles run every 10 minutes from the lots. Friday until 9:30pm, Saturday and Sunday until 8:30pm. Use the same lot for arrival and departure — official guidance is firm on this.

Post-race surge pricing

Once the chequered flag drops and 275,000 people simultaneously open their Uber apps, prices spike fast. Two strategies that work:

  • Leave 10–15 laps before the end of the race — sounds painful, feels fine when you're in a car heading home while everyone else is queuing.
  • Wait it out inside the venue for 45–60 minutes until demand drops.
Safety note: There are unlicensed drivers near Hard Rock Stadium posing as rideshare drivers, especially post-race. Only get in a car that matches what's shown in your app.

Tri-RailFrom further south / FLL

Tri-Rail serves Miami, Fort Lauderdale, and Palm Beach County. During race weekend, trains run to Golden Glades Station, where a free shuttle connects to the circuit at Lot 95, Gate 3.

Flying into FLL? Free shuttle from Terminals 2 or 4 to the nearest Tri-Rail station, then ride to Golden Glades.

Total journey from FLL: 40–60 minutes depending on wait times

Tri-Rail fare: $3.75

If You're Driving Anyway

  • Stadium parking is sold outIt always sells out early for race weekend. If you haven't pre-purchased, you're not parking on-site.
  • Official satellite lotsLots 60, 62, 70, and 95 all have shuttle service running every 10 minutes. Shuttle service starts at 11am Friday and 8am Saturday/Sunday. The HRS Express from Lots 70 and 95 is climate-controlled — which matters more than it sounds in May.
  • Unofficial / resident parkingAround NW 207th Street, locals open their driveways for around $50 for the weekend. It's informal, closer than some official lots, and hundreds of people use it every year. You're parking at your own risk — no guarantee or recourse — but the general consensus is that it works fine.

What Most People Actually Do

Staying in downtown Miami or along Brightline's route

Take Brightline. Book early — the Hard Rock Connect trains fill up.

Staying in Miami Beach

Rideshare to a drop lot, take the shuttle in. Budget the post-race wait or leave a few laps early.

Coming from Fort Lauderdale or further south

Tri-Rail to Golden Glades, free shuttle to Gate 3.

Driving because you're staying nearby or have a group

Pre-book your satellite lot, take the shuttle, and don't expect to leave immediately after the race.

Whatever you choose, add 30 minutes to whatever journey time you're estimating. Race weekends always take longer than you think, in both directions.

The 2026 Miami Grand Prix runs May 1–3 at Hard Rock Stadium, Miami Gardens, Florida.
