Monaco Grand Prix Bag PolicySize limits, what's allowed, and what gets rejected at the gate.

Monaco enforces bag size rules strictly. Most standard daypacks are over the limit. Check your bag dimensions before race day — finding out at the gate means leaving it behind.

Size limits

Verify before race weekend

The enforced bag limit at Monaco is approximately 30 × 20 × 15 cm. Confirm the exact 2026 dimensions on the official ACM website (acm.mc) when ticket documentation is released — this figure reflects the generally applied limit but may be updated for the 2026 event.

Security staff measure bags at their maximum packed extent — not collapsed. A bag that looks small empty but expands when loaded is still measured at its loaded size.

What the dimensions mean in practice

  • → 30 cm depth — roughly the height of an A4 sheet of paper
  • → 20 cm width — narrower than most standard backpacks
  • → 15 cm height — shallower than a standard laptop bag
  • → A small drawstring bag or compact crossbody bag typically passes

Clear bag requirement

Monaco does not operate a clear bag policy. Any colour, any material — the restriction is size only, not transparency.

This is different to Miami and Las Vegas, which require clear bags at some or all grandstands. At Monaco, a small navy drawstring bag is fine. A small leather crossbody is fine. The colour and material are not the issue — only whether the bag fits within the size limit.

The simplest approach

A small drawstring bag or a bag you've physically measured against the limits at home. If it fits in a space 30 × 20 × 15 cm when loaded, it will pass. If you have any doubt, it won't.

What commonly gets rejected

Standard daypacks (20–30L)

The default hiking or travel daypack is almost always over the limit. Even 10L bags can be borderline if they expand when packed.

Camera bags

Purpose-built camera bags with padding and compartments are typically over the permitted dimensions.

Large tote bags

Open-top totes that exceed the height or width limit — the bag is measured at its maximum extent when packed, not collapsed.

Soft-sided cooler bags

Any bag designed to carry food and drinks tends to be both over the size limit and over the contents policy.

Security at Monaco does not negotiate or offer exceptions. A rejected bag means either returning to your accommodation or using a paid locker — neither is convenient on race day.

If your bag is rejected

Paid luggage lockers are available near the main circuit entrances. They are a genuine option but come with two problems: limited capacity and high demand on race day. Lockers near the main gates fill early on Sunday morning.

  • If using a locker, arrive early enough to secure one before the main crowd
  • Transfer essentials (ticket, sunscreen, water, wallet) to your pockets and leave the bag locked
  • Know the locker location before you need it — don't search for it when already running late

The more reliable solution is to avoid the problem entirely: pack into a bag you've measured before you leave your hotel, and don't leave bag selection to the morning of race day.
