Singapore Grand Prix Bag Policy 202630×20×30cm. Strictly enforced. No storage at the gates.

Singapore enforces a strict 30×20×30cm limit. Most standard school backpacks are slightly over this. Measure before race day — there's no storage at the gates and no second chances.

The size limit

Maximum bag size: 30cm × 20cm × 30cm

Clear bag required: No — but express lanes exist for no-bag entry

Enforcement: Strict — enforced at all entry gates

Food: No outside food permitted

Water: One sealed plastic bottle up to 600ml allowed

30×20×30cm is smaller than most people expect. It's roughly the size of a small day pack — about the size of a hydration pack or a small rucksack. A standard 20L school bag or everyday backpack is typically over the limit.

Measure at home, not at the gate

Use a tape measure or hold the bag against a box with 30×20×30cm dimensions before you leave your hotel. Security at Singapore does not make exceptions for bags that are “only slightly over.” If it fails the check, you are turned away — there is no storage option at the circuit gates.

The official policy is published by Singapore GP on the Formula 1 Singapore event website. Check the official source before race day as policies can vary.

No-bag express lanes

Singapore offers express entry lanes for spectators with no bag at all. If you're attending in the evening and only need your phone and tickets, this is the fastest way through security. For a night race with minimal afternoon sun, going bag-free is a viable option.

If you do go bag-free, buy your water and supplies at a 7-Eleven before entry — you won't be able to bring anything in.

What's allowed

  • Bags within 30×20×30cm dimensions
  • One sealed plastic bottle up to 600ml
  • Phones, tablets, and personal cameras (no detachable lenses)
  • Binoculars
  • Ear protection
  • Medications and medical equipment
  • Compact rain jackets and ponchos
  • Small flags (check current rules on pole length)

What's not allowed

  • Bags over 30cm × 20cm × 30cm — strictly enforced, no exceptions
  • Outside food
  • Glass bottles or metal cans
  • Plastic bottles over 600ml
  • Professional cameras with detachable lenses
  • Tripods
  • Selfie sticks over 30cm
  • Drones or remote-controlled aircraft
  • Smoke bombs, flares, or pyrotechnics
  • Laser pointers

What gets rejected most often

The most commonly rejected items at Singapore GP gates:

  • Standard school backpacks and daypacks slightly over the 30×20×30cm limit
  • Metal cans (including energy drinks)
  • Glass bottles
  • Oversized camera lenses (telephoto, detachable zoom)
  • Selfie sticks over 30cm
  • Oversized water bottles (over 600ml)

If your bag is rejected

There is very limited storage at Singapore GP circuit gates. This is not a venue where you can hand your bag in and collect it later — the option essentially doesn't exist at most entrances. If your bag is rejected:

  • Return to your hotel if it's nearby (this is why measuring before you leave matters)
  • Leave the bag at your hotel and enter with minimal items
  • Some entrances may have limited storage — check with security on arrival

The right plan is to measure your bag before you leave accommodation — not to rely on storage options that may not exist.

Packing for the limit

Singapore's 30×20×30cm limit and no-outside-food rule means every item needs to earn its place. Priority items for the bag:

  • Cooling towelEssential for Singapore humidity — folds flat.
  • Phone and power bankBattery through a full race day running 4pm to midnight.
  • Compact rain jacket~40% chance of afternoon storm — folds to almost nothing.
  • Ear protectionFoam earplugs weigh almost nothing. Echo between buildings is harsh.
  • 600ml sealed water bottleThe maximum you can bring in — fill it before entry.
