Realistic F1 Trip Costs for Every Race on the 2026 Calendar

Grand Prix Pal 10 min read

Every F1 ticket listing shows the face value. Nobody shows you what the weekend actually costs. Here's the honest total for every race on the 2026 calendar — including the race-week hotel markup that doubles your accommodation bill.

Why Listed Ticket Prices Are Misleading

A general admission ticket to the Hungarian Grand Prix costs about $90. Sounds cheap. But the cheapest race-week hotel within an hour of the Hungaroring is $180/night. You need at least two nights. Add flights, airport transfers, food, race-day transport, and a rain poncho you'll definitely need. Your $90 race just became $900.

The F1 premium is real. Hotels near every circuit charge 2–4x their normal rate during race week. This is the single biggest hidden cost and it affects every race on the calendar.

Budget Tier: Under $1,000 (From Europe)

Austria (Red Bull Ring): GA ticket $80, camping available from $30/night, short-haul flights from most European cities. Total: $500–800. The cheapest full race weekend on the calendar if you camp.

Hungary (Hungaroring): GA $90, hotels from $150/night in Budapest (30 min shuttle). Total: $700–1,000. Great value because Budapest itself is affordable.

Barcelona: GA $120, hotels from $130/night, regular shuttle from the city. Total: $700–1,000 from within Europe.

Mid-Range Tier: $1,000–2,500

Montreal: GA $170, hotels from $200/night (book early or they triple). Metro to the circuit. Total: $1,200–2,000 from North America, $1,800–2,500 from Europe.

Silverstone: GA $200, camping or hotels in Milton Keynes ($180/night). Total: $800–1,500 from the UK, $1,500–2,200 from elsewhere.

Melbourne: GA $150 AUD, hotels from $250 AUD/night (CBD, tram to circuit). Total: $1,500–2,200 AUD from within Australia, significantly more from Europe/Americas due to flights.

Monza: GA $120, hotels in Milan from $180/night (20-min train). Total: $1,000–1,800 from Europe.

Premium Tier: $2,500–5,000

Singapore: GA $300+, hotels from $350/night (race-week minimum), humid so you'll spend on drinks and cooling. Total: $2,500–4,000 depending on origin.

Austin: GA $250, hotels from $300/night (they gouge during race week), shuttle from downtown essential. Total: $2,000–3,500 from North America.

Abu Dhabi: GA $200, hotels from $400/night (Yas Island premium). Total: $2,500–4,000. Beautiful but the accommodation cost is steep.

Top Tier: $5,000+

Monaco: No GA available — cheapest grandstand is $500+. Hotels start at $600/night and that's in Nice, not Monaco itself. Total: $4,000–8,000 for a basic trip. It's Monaco.

Las Vegas: GA $300+, hotels from $400/night (Strip rates during race week), plus you need warm clothes for the midnight finish. Total: $3,500–6,000 from North America.

These races are bucket-list events. But if it's your first race and you're watching your budget, they shouldn't be your first choice.

Hidden Costs Nobody Mentions

Race-day food: $30–60 per person at most circuits. Bring snacks.

Merch: You will buy something. Budget $50–150.

Transport to/from circuit: $20–80 per day depending on shuttles, parking, or ride-shares.

Travel insurance: $30–80 for the trip. Worth it when your flight gets cancelled race morning.

Clear bag (required at many circuits): $15–25 on Amazon. Check your race's bag policy before you go.

eSIM or local data: $10–20. You'll want data for live timing and rideshare apps.
