What to Pack for the Spanish Grand PrixJune in Barcelona is the hottest race weekend in Europe. Pack accordingly.

June in Barcelona runs 22–30°C with low humidity — genuinely hot race weekend weather. Sun protection and hydration matter more here than at most other circuits. Pack light, pack practical.

Sun protection — non-negotiable

  • SPF 50+ sunscreen, broad spectrum. Apply before leaving hotel. Reapply at midday.
  • Sun hat — Turn 1 and GA areas have full sun all day
  • Polarised sunglasses

The Main Grandstand has a roof — Turn 1 does not.

Hydration

  • Bring a refillable water bottle (empty at entry, fill at water points inside)
  • Free water points available throughout the circuit
  • 25–30°C direct sun for 8+ hours — drink constantly, not when thirsty
  • Cooling towel: wet it at a water point, wear around neck. Works better than it sounds.

Clothing

  • Light, breathable fabrics — linen or moisture-wicking athletic wear
  • Not cotton — gets heavy and stays wet
  • Comfortable walking shoes — plan to walk 4–6km per day minimum
  • Light layer for evening if you're out in the city after (temperatures drop but not dramatically in June)

Essential items

  • Ear protection — foam earplugs minimum, ear defenders better. F1 cars are physically loud.
  • Portable phone charger (10,000mAh minimum) — running F1 app, maps, photos, all day
  • Screenshot your tickets before you arrive — cell signal can be unreliable at gates

What to avoid

  • Large backpacks — check bag size limits at /races/barcelona/bag-policy before you pack
  • Aerosol anything — not permitted
  • Umbrella — large umbrellas block sightlines and may be restricted
  • Dark coloured clothing in direct sun — absorbs heat
