Lusail International Circuit is 20km north of central Doha. The Doha Metro connected to the circuit area for the first time with the extension to Lusail — and this changes everything. The metro plus free race shuttle is the most reliable way to get there on race days, and it is free for ticket holders during the 2025 event (confirm for 2026 on the official race website).
Take the Doha Metro Red Line north toward Lusail. Alight at the Lusail station area, then join the free race weekend shuttle on the east side of the station. The shuttle drops at the main circuit entrance. Journey time from the metro station to the circuit is 20-40 minutes depending on race day traffic on the access roads.
The metro itself is inexpensive — a return journey is approximately 2 QAR. In 2025, race ticket holders received a complimentary 3-day unlimited pass covering both the metro and the Lusail Tram. Check the official race website to confirm whether this applies for 2026.
Extended metro hours — race weekend
Race shuttle operating hours
The shuttle picks up at the east side of the metro station and drops at the circuit main entrance area. Use the same stop for both directions.
Karwa Taxis are Qatar's main licensed taxi service — clean, metered, and reliable. Uber and Careem also operate in Doha with designated drop-off and pickup points near the circuit. On practice days with lighter traffic, a direct taxi or ride-share from your hotel is often faster and more convenient than the metro-shuttle.
On qualifying and race day, traffic around the Lusail access roads becomes significant. Ride-share prices surge, and taxis can spend considerable time stationary. The metro-shuttle bypasses most of this.
Free parking is available at the circuit. When driving, exit the motorway at Exit 29B and follow the spectator signs to the designated parking area. Parking is limited — the organiser recommends car sharing. On race day, the access roads can be very slow and there is no guaranteed arrival time if you hit the worst traffic.
Driving is a reasonable option for practice days. For qualifying and the race, the metro-shuttle is more predictable.
The race finishes around 20:00 local time. The immediate period after the chequered flag is the busiest for the shuttle queue. Waiting inside the circuit for 20-30 minutes — the podium ceremony and entertainment continue after the flag — means significantly shorter queues when you do leave.
The metro runs until 02:30 on race night, so there is no urgency to rush out immediately. Ride-share and taxi traffic is heaviest in the 20 minutes directly after the race — walking to a pickup point away from the main entrance is faster than waiting at the circuit gate.
Staying in West Bay or Corniche, Doha
Metro (Red Line north) to Lusail station, then free race shuttle. Fastest and cheapest on race days.
Staying in Lusail City (near circuit)
Walk to the Lusail Tram or take a short taxi — you are already close. The circuit is significantly more accessible than for Doha hotel guests.
Practice days, lower crowds
Taxi or Uber/Careem works well with less traffic — often faster than the shuttle on quiet days.
Race day or qualifying
Metro + shuttle. Taxis and ride-shares face serious congestion on the access roads around the circuit.
