Getting to the Singapore Grand PrixMRT gets you in. The exit is where most people lose an hour.

Getting to Marina Bay is easy — the MRT drops you close. Getting out after the race is where most people lose an hour. The key is knowing which station to avoid and which direction to walk.

MRT stations by zoneRecommended

The correct MRT station depends on which zone your ticket covers. Singapore's MRT network is reliable and extended on race days — use it. From city-centre hotels, expect a 10-20 minute ride plus 20-30 minutes of walking through crowds from exit to gate.

Zone 1 — Pit Straight / Turn 1

Nicoll Highway (CC5) or Promenade (CC4/DT15)

Exit: Promenade Exit C for the Pit Straight entrance

Nicoll Highway is slightly further but less crowded on arrival.

Zone 4 — Padang / Esplanade

City Hall (NS25/EW13) or Esplanade (CC3)

Exit: City Hall Exit B for the Padang area

City Hall is on two lines (North-South and East-West) making it easy to reach from most parts of Singapore.

Zone 3 — Bay Grandstand area

Bayfront (CE1/DT16)

Exit: Exit B

Note: seating near turns 16-19 in this area has changed for 2026 due to construction at The Float at Marina Bay. Verify against the current ticket map.

Single journey fare: SGD $1.20–2.50 depending on distance (EZ-Link card)

EZ-Link card: Available at any MRT station — top up at ticket machines

Contactless payment: Visa/Mastercard accepted on Singapore MRT

Journey time from the city

Most city-centre hotels are well-connected to the circuit by MRT. Add walking time from the exit to your gate — this varies by zone but expect 20-30 minutes through the crowd on busy days. Allow more on race day.

Orchard / Somerset

20-25 min MRT + 20-30 min walk · North-South line to City Hall (Zone 4) or change for Circle line

Marina Bay / Raffles Place area

5-10 min MRT + 20-30 min walk · Already on the right side — short hop to Bayfront or Promenade

Bugis / Bras Basah

10-15 min MRT + 20-30 min walk · East-West line to City Hall or Downtown line to Promenade/Bayfront

Sentosa / Harbourfront

25-35 min MRT + 20-30 min walk · Circle line to Bayfront (CE1) — direct, no changes

Last trains

MRT service is extended during race weekend to accommodate the night schedule. You will not be stranded — the trains run late enough to cover the race and post-race concerts.

Friday (Oct 9): Last trains extended to 12:30-1:00am

Saturday (Oct 10): Last trains extended to 12:30-1:00am

Sunday (Oct 11 — race night): Last trains extended to 12:45-1:00am

These times are based on standard Singapore GP extended service. Confirm exact times on the SMRT or SBS Transit websites closer to the race — times are published in advance.

Post-race exit — the part that matters most

The queue to enter City Hall or Promenade stations after the final concert runs 45-60 minutes. This is consistent and predictable — not exceptional bad luck. The crowd from the entire circuit funnels toward these two main stations simultaneously.

Leave immediately after the race

45-60 minute queue just to enter City Hall or Promenade stations after the final concert. This is standard, not unusual bad luck.

Walk to Clarke Quay or Bencoolen (from Zone 4)

15 minutes on foot gets you past the circuit crowd entirely. Clarke Quay (NE5) and Bencoolen (DT21) stations are not congested. This is the fastest exit option from Zone 4.

Stay for post-race concerts, then leave

The concert is 45-60 minutes of queue time used productively. By the time the concert ends, station queues have reduced noticeably.

Wait 30-45 minutes after the final concert ends

Queues clear significantly in the first 45 minutes. Sitting at a food stall or near the Padang while others queue is consistently faster than joining the immediate rush.

The walking route from Zone 4

From the Zone 4 Padang/Esplanade area, walk away from the circuit toward Clarke Quay — approximately 15 minutes on foot. Clarke Quay (NE5) station on the North-East line is not congested after the race. Bencoolen (DT21) on the Downtown line is another 5 minutes further but equally uncrowded. Both connect back to the city centre easily.

Taxis and Grab

Taxis and Grab are nearly impossible immediately after the race. Roads within the circuit perimeter are closed, surge pricing is extreme, and the area is overwhelmed. This is not a case of trying different apps — the roads aren't accessible.

Walk first, book second

Most locals walk at least 2km from the circuit before attempting to book a Grab. This takes 20-25 minutes but prices drop significantly and supply increases once you're clear of the closure zone. Trying to book from the circuit gate means waiting for a driver who can't reach you.

Hotels immediately adjacent to the circuit (Marina Bay Sands, Fullerton Hotel, Esplanade area) are an exception — if you're staying within walking distance, you can simply walk back.

Quick summary

Staying in the city centre

MRT from your nearest station. Journey to circuit is 10-20 minutes by MRT plus walking time from exit to gate. Easy, reliable, and cheaper than anything else.

Staying near Orchard Road or Somerset

North-South line to City Hall (Exit B) for Zone 4. Or transfer to Circle line at Dhoby Ghaut for Esplanade (CC3). Both are straightforward.

Post-race, in Zone 4

Walk 15 minutes to Clarke Quay (NE5) or Bencoolen (DT21). Both are well outside the circuit crowd. Don't queue at City Hall or Promenade — it adds 45-60 minutes.

Post-race, need a Grab

Walk at least 2km from the circuit perimeter before opening the app. Roads near the circuit are closed and prices surge immediately after the race. Most locals walk 20+ minutes before attempting to book.

The 2026 Singapore Grand Prix runs October 9-11 at Marina Bay Street Circuit. Sprint weekend format.
