F1 team jackets are the most practical piece of fan merchandise — you wear them at the race, at the airport, and back home. This covers the genuine options available to buy in India, what each type of jacket costs, and what to look out for when ordering.
Not all F1 jackets are the same product. Teams produce several different styles, and which one makes sense depends on where you are wearing it — a Singapore night race or a cold Silverstone Sunday require very different outerwear.
Team Softshell Jacket
₹8,000–15,000The most common official team jacket. A structured mid-layer with a water-resistant shell and a soft, fleece-type lining. Designed for mild-cold European conditions — Silverstone, Spa, or Monza evenings. More bulk than a windbreaker. Good for a race in the UK or Belgium; slightly warm for Singapore.

Replica Race Suit (Display)
₹15,000–40,000A decorative item, not a wearable race suit. These are scaled replicas of the Nomex race suits worn by drivers — they are not fireproof or functional. Primarily bought as a collector's item or for display. Not suitable as a jacket to wear at the race — it will be hot, impractical, and look odd.

All four teams below have genuine products available in India, either through Amazon India official stores or the F1 official store. Prices are for the softshell jacket unless noted. All assume 2026 pricing — check the store at time of purchase.
The Red Bull Racing softshell is dark navy with team and Oracle branding. It is the most purchased F1 team jacket in India given the team's fanbase, and genuine stock on Amazon India's Red Bull Racing Official Store is consistent. The cut is slim European — size up by one from your usual Indian sizing. The navy colourway is versatile enough to wear off-race-weekend without looking like you are in costume.
Sizing note
Red Bull Racing jackets run slim through the chest and shoulders. If you are a 42" chest, order XL not L. The jacket should sit close-fitted — not tight, but not loose like an Indian cut would be.
Ferrari's team jacket line includes both a traditional red softshell and a darker charcoal/black edition. The red version is the most visible and iconic — it is what you picture when you think of Scuderia Ferrari at the track. Ferrari India (ferrari.com) ships to India directly and carries the official team wear range. Amazon India's Ferrari Official Store is the more convenient option for most buyers.
Ferrari merchandise quality has been consistently high — the stitching on logos and the shell material on the softshell jacket are noticeably better than budget fan versions. If you are buying this as a gift for someone who cares about quality, Ferrari is a safe choice.
McLaren's papaya orange colourway makes their jacket the most visually distinctive on this list. The team's India fan base has grown significantly since Lando Norris's popularity increased — and the jacket is one of the better-designed pieces in the current F1 team wear range. The combination of papaya, black, and chrome detailing is the team's most consistent visual identity in years.
Available through the official F1 store and increasingly through Amazon India. Stock availability is less consistent than Red Bull or Ferrari — order early if you want a specific size.
Mercedes team jackets are the most understated on this list — the silver-black colourway is subtle enough to wear in a non-racing context without being conspicuous. The softshell quality is strong and the official Amazon India Mercedes AMG Petronas store has reliable stock. The team's India fan base has slightly reduced since Hamilton's move to Ferrari, but the jackets remain well-made.

Avoid: Local jersey shops, Meesho, unverified Amazon sellers
Local jersey shops in Linking Road, Sarojini Nagar, or similar markets sell F1-branded jackets — none of these are official merchandise. Meesho and unverified Amazon third-party sellers routinely list counterfeit items. The price will look attractive (₹800–2,500 for a "team jacket"). The product is not genuine.
Counterfeit F1 jackets in India have improved in quality — they are not the obviously wrong products of five years ago. Here is how to identify them:
Price
Genuine team softshell jackets do not exist at ₹1,500–2,500. The material cost alone for a genuine softshell jacket is higher than this. If the price is significantly below ₹8,000, it is not genuine.
Logo stitching quality
Team logos on genuine jackets are embroidered with precise thread density and correct pantone colours. Counterfeits have logos that are slightly wrong — incorrect font weight, slightly off colours, or looser stitching that puckers around the edges.
Shell material
Genuine softshell jackets have a specific hand feel — the outer shell is matte with a slight texture, and the lining is soft bonded fleece. Counterfeits tend to use a shinier outer shell and a rough polyester lining. The material smell is also different — fake polyester has a chemical smell that genuine garments do not.
Authenticity tags
Genuine items have an authenticity tag or hologram on the inside collar or hem. The hologram should be three-dimensional and change colour under light. Printed flat holograms are fake. The care label should have the team name and official licensing text.
Zip and zipper pull quality
Genuine team jackets use YKK or equivalent quality zippers with branded pulls. Counterfeits use cheap zippers that feel light and the zipper tape is often the wrong colour.
If you are attending a race, buying your jacket at the circuit is a legitimate and actually good option. Every jacket from the circuit merchandise store is authentic — there is no counterfeit risk. You also get to try it on before buying, which matters given the European sizing difference.
The circuit option is 20–40% more expensive than buying online before you travel. At the Singapore GP, a Red Bull Racing softshell that costs ₹10,000–12,000 online will cost SGD 200–240 (₹12,300–14,750) at the circuit store. You pay a premium for the convenience and the authenticity guarantee.
The jacket-as-souvenir argument
There is a reasonable case for buying your jacket at the race itself: it connects the purchase to the experience. You wear it home from Singapore or Abu Dhabi, and every time you wear it afterwards you know exactly where and when you bought it. That is worth the premium for some people.
Do not buy on race day

F1 team jackets follow European sizing conventions. They are cut slimmer through the chest, torso, and shoulders than Indian sizing for the same label size. This catches Indian buyers by surprise — a person who normally wears an Indian L will often need an XL or even XXL in F1 team outerwear.
These are general guidelines — each team's specific sizing chart should be checked at point of purchase. When ordering online without trying on, size up by one from your usual Indian size.
