Best F1 Merchandise Available in India — Where to Buy and What to Pay

The F1 merch landscape in India is a mix of genuine products, official stores, and counterfeit items that look plausible at first glance. This guide covers where to find genuine team merchandise in India, what circuit stores offer that online cannot, and the price difference between buying before you travel vs. at the race.

The F1 merchandise landscape in India

F1 merchandise was difficult to source in India until around 2021–22, when Amazon India began hosting official team stores and the F1 official store started shipping reliably to Indian addresses. Before that, most Indian fans either bought at the circuit abroad or brought items back from international trips.

The situation now is good — genuine products are available online — but the counterfeit market has grown alongside F1's popularity in India post-Drive to Survive. Local jersey shops and non-official Amazon third-party sellers routinely sell fake team caps and shirts that look similar to the real thing. The price difference is the tell: a genuine Red Bull Racing cap costs ₹2,500–4,500. A ₹400 cap with Red Bull branding is not official merchandise.

Where to buy genuine F1 merchandise in India

1. Official F1 store (store.formula1.com)

Most reliable

The official store ships to India and has the widest range — all teams, event-specific items, and official F1-branded gear. Shipping costs $15–25 USD (₹1,250–2,075) per order and takes 10–20 business days. Worth using for items you cannot find on Amazon India, particularly for smaller teams like Aston Martin, Alpine, or Haas.

Customs duty warning

Orders above approximately ₹10,000 value may attract Indian customs duty on import — typically 10–20% of declared value. For smaller orders this is rarely an issue. For large orders (jackets, multiple items), factor in the potential duty cost.

2. Amazon India — official team stores only

Best for convenience

Amazon India hosts official stores for Red Bull Racing, Ferrari, Mercedes AMG Petronas, and McLaren. Products sold directly by these stores are genuine — same items as the official team websites, often with Prime delivery. The key is to check the seller: look for "Sold by Red Bull Racing Official Store" or similar, not a third-party seller who happens to list F1 products.

Avoid third-party Amazon sellers

Third-party sellers on Amazon India selling "official" team merchandise at suspiciously low prices are almost always counterfeit. If the seller name is not the team's own store, do not buy it for authenticity-sensitive items.

3. Official team websites

Ferrari has an official India-facing presence (ferrari.com) and ships to India. Other team websites (redbull.com/racing/shop, mercedes-amg-f1.com) ship internationally. Delivery takes similar time to the F1 store. The benefit is team-specific sale periods and items that are exclusive to the team store rather than licensed to the F1 store.

4. At the circuit

If you are attending a race abroad — Singapore, Abu Dhabi, Baku — the circuit merchandise store is the only place to buy race-specific items. Event-edition caps and programmes are made for that weekend only. Everything else (generic team caps, t-shirts, jackets) is available online for less.

Circuit store tip

At Singapore, the merchandise store is open Thursday and Friday with no queues. On race day, queues at the main merchandise pavilion can be 30–60 minutes long. Buy early in the weekend — the stock is identical.

Price comparison: online vs. at the circuit

All prices in INR. Circuit prices converted from SGD at the Singapore GP, which is the most commonly attended race for Indian fans. Other circuits are similar.

ItemOnline (India)Circuit store
Team cap (Red Bull / Ferrari / Mercedes)₹2,500–4,500₹3,500–6,000
Team t-shirt₹2,000–4,000₹3,000–5,500
Team softshell jacket₹8,000–15,000₹10,000–18,000
Team polo shirt₹3,000–6,000₹4,500–7,500
Replica helmet (1:2 scale, display)₹15,000–30,000₹18,000–35,000
Diecast car (1:18 scale)₹8,000–25,000₹10,000–28,000
Event-specific cap (race edition)Not available₹4,500–7,000
Official race programmeNot available₹1,500–2,500

Circuit prices are consistently 20–40% higher than online prices for the same item. The exception is race-specific merchandise, which is only available at the circuit.

What to buy online vs. at the circuit

Buy online before you travel

  • Team caps, t-shirts, and jackets — identical quality, significantly cheaper
  • Diecast car models — heavy to carry back anyway, buy online and ship
  • Replica helmets — fragile and large, not practical to carry on the flight home
  • Anything you can order 2–4 weeks before travel to allow delivery time

Buy at the circuit

  • Race-edition caps — they have the year and circuit name on them, only made for that event
  • Official race programme — collector's item, documenting that specific race
  • Race-specific posters or limited prints — produced in small quantities for the weekend
  • Anything you want to remember that exact race by

Team merchandise — which teams suit Indian fans

Red Bull and Ferrari have the strongest F1 fan base in India. McLaren is growing fast, partly driven by Lando Norris's popularity and his strong social media presence. Here is a quick guide to each:

Red Bull Racing

₹2,500–14,000 depending on item

Strongest fan following in India. Good availability on Amazon India official store. Navy-heavy colourway works well in Indian weather — the softshell jacket is the most-purchased item.

Ferrari

₹2,000–13,000

Ferrari's brand recognition in India is strong even among non-F1 fans. Official presence on Amazon India and ferrari.com ships to India. Red colourway is distinctive. Popular as a gift purchase.

McLaren

₹2,500–13,000

Growing rapidly post-Norris popularity. Papaya orange colourway is eye-catching. Available on Amazon India and the official F1 store. The McLaren cap is one of the better-looking options in the current grid.

Mercedes AMG Petronas

₹2,500–15,000

Slightly less prominent in India since Hamilton left. Still a strong team brand. Available on Amazon India. The silver-black colourway is more understated than Red Bull or Ferrari.

Fake vs. genuine — how to tell

Counterfeit F1 merchandise in India is common enough that this is worth covering explicitly. The items that are most frequently faked are team caps, t-shirts, and jackets.

Price

Genuine

Genuine team caps: ₹2,500–4,500. Genuine jackets: ₹8,000–15,000.

Fake

Anything under ₹1,000 for a cap or ₹2,500 for a jacket is not genuine.

Seller on Amazon

Genuine

"Sold by [Team] Official Store" — check the exact seller name

Fake

Third-party sellers with generic names offering big discounts on "official" team gear

Embroidery quality

Genuine

Team logos on genuine caps are precisely stitched with tight thread count and correct pantone colours

Fake

Logos look slightly off — wrong font weight, colour slightly incorrect, or stitching is loose

Authenticity tag

Genuine

Genuine items have an authenticity hologram or official label on the inside collar or hem

Fake

Labels are present but printed rather than embroidered, or the hologram looks flat and low-resolution
