Qualifying: Friday, Nov 20 at 20:00 PST, UTC−8
F1 qualifying uses a three-part knockout format to set the grid for the Grand Prix:
The entire qualifying session lasts approximately one hour including breaks between segments. The Grand Prix starts Saturday, Nov 21 at 20:00 PST, UTC−8.
Las Vegas is the only round where the entire weekend runs at night. The circuit uses Las Vegas Boulevard itself, so the track only exists once the Strip closes to traffic — which is why practice starts at 4:30 PM rather than late morning, and why the Grand Prix goes green at 8:00 PM on Saturday rather than in the afternoon.
Two consequences are worth planning around. Qualifying is on Friday night, not Saturday afternoon, so a trip built around a single Saturday misses it entirely. And because every session finishes late, the daytime on all three days is completely free — with Sunday the only day that has no track action at all, and therefore the only one a ten-hour Grand Canyon coach trip actually fits.
One quirk if you are converting these times yourself: every session here crosses midnight UTC. An 8:00 PM Saturday start in Pacific time is already Sunday in UTC, which is why some listings show the Las Vegas Grand Prix on the wrong day. The times above are local to the circuit and convert to your own zone automatically.
