The race takes place on Saturday, not Sunday. This is not a sprint weekend — it is the full Grand Prix, on Saturday. Sunday has no on-track F1 sessions. The 2026 schedule has FP1 and FP2 on Thursday September 24, FP3 and qualifying on Friday September 25, and the race on Saturday September 26.
The Turn 1–2 grandstand (Absheron) is the best overall first-visit choice — cars arrive from the 2km straight at above 300 km/h and brake hard into Turn 1, making it the primary overtaking point and where race-start incidents concentrate. The castle section is irreplaceable for atmosphere but cars are slow through that section.
The Baku City Circuit uses the streets of central Baku — from the 2km seafront main straight along Neftchilar Avenue through to the 12th-century Old City section, where the track narrows to six metres through ancient stone walls. At 6.003km it is one of the longest street circuits in F1.
Yes. Thursday is the only time you can walk the full Baku City Circuit perimeter without the qualifying and race crowds. The castle section — F1 cars navigating six-metre-wide medieval streets — needs to be seen at walking pace to appreciate. The scale of the walls and the track width are difficult to understand from photographs.
