Key items for Baku: a bag that fits under your seat, an empty refillable water bottle (no outside drinks permitted), SPF 50+ sunscreen, a lightweight windproof layer for the Caspian wind on the main straight, comfortable walking shoes, earplugs or ear defenders, and a 10,000mAh+ power bank. ID is also required at the gate each day.
Sealed water bottles are not permitted at the gate. Bring an empty refillable bottle — collapsible or standard — and fill it at the water points inside the circuit immediately after entry.
The 2km main straight runs directly along the Caspian Sea waterfront. Northwesterly winds can gust 50–60 km/h along this section, making a T-shirt feel cold after an hour even at 22–25°C. Castle section grandstands are more sheltered by the surrounding walls, but boulevard and Turn 1 positions get full wind exposure.
Yes. The castle section is acoustically extreme — F1 cars at speed in a stone-walled medieval corridor are significantly louder than in open grandstands. Foam earplugs are sufficient and weigh nothing. Ear defenders at around 25dB let you hear conversation while protecting across a full day.
